Forum user journey and Community Moderation initiative

This document is part of our beginners guide.

This article will let you know how you can help us grow as a community! It will first go over basic Forum functionalities and then focus on how you can help us moderate our Forum content.

Your Forum journey

Our UiPath Forum is hosted by Discourse which provides several cool features that allow you to grow as a user.

Understanding User Trust levels

Our Forum has 5 trust levels:

  • New User

When you first join our Forum, you are considered a New User.

Therefore, your account will be slightly restricted (click to see the list of restrictions).
    • Send personal messages to other users
    • “Reply as new topic” via Link button (UI removed)
    • Flag posts
    • Post more than 1 image
    • Post any attachments
    • Post more than 2 hyperlinks in a post
    • Have actual links in the ‘about me’ field of their profile (will be silently and temporarily converted to plain text)
    • Mention more than 2 users in a post
    • Post more than 3 topics
    • Post more than 10 replies
    • Edit their own posts after more than 24 hours
  • Basic User

Stick around to become Basic User, it only requires you to:

    • enter at least 5 topics
    • read at least 30 posts
    • spend 10 minutes on the Forum reading posts

You can also reach this level by completing the Foundation Academy training and joining our Foundation group on Forum. More information on how to do that here.

You will then be able to:

    • Use all core Discourse functions; all new user restrictions from above are removed
    • Send PMs
    • Upload images and attachments if enabled
    • Edit wiki posts
    • Flag posts
    • Mute other users
  • Member

For the list of all requirements, see here.

You can also reach this level by completing the Orchestrator Academy training and joining our Orchestrator group on Forum. More information on how to do that here.

    Members can:

    • Invite outside users to PMs making a group PM
    • Daily like limit increased by 1.5×
    • Ignore other users
    • Edit their own posts for up to 30 days after posting
  • Regular

For the list of all requirements, see here.

You can also reach this level by completing the Advanced Academy training and joining our Advanced group on Forum. More information on how to do that here.

You will then be able to:

    • Recategorize and rename topics
    • Have all their links followed (we remove automatic nofollow)
    • TL3 spam flags cast on TL0 user posts immediately hide the post
    • TL3 flags cast on TL0 user posts in sufficient diversity will auto-silence the user and hide all their posts
    • Make their own posts wiki (that is, editable by any TL1+ users)
    • Daily like limit increased by 2×
  • Leader

This trust level can only be granted manually by your helpful @Forum_Staff members. Keep contributing to the growth of our UiPath Forum and you will get it for sure!

    It allows you to:

    • Edit all posts
    • Pin/unpin topic
    • Close topics
    • Archive topics
    • Make topics unlisted
    • Split and merge topics
    • Reset topic bump date
    • Daily like limit increased by 3×
    • Any TL4 flag cast on any post immediately takes effect and hides the target post
(when you reach this level, we will kindly ask you to not use the options which are crossed-out on the above list)

This is also the trust level you will automatically get when you join our @Community_Moderators group (read below how to get there ).

Community Moderators initiative

What is it about?

We are happy to let our Community manage our Forum as much as possible. This is why we selected most frequent Forum contributors to help us recategorize and tag new topics, as well as flag the content that does not follow our basic Community Guidelines.

Extra perks:

  • your own space to discuss content moderation (group on the Forum and group on the Community Slack
  • access to special lists that will help you get an overview of the Forum content

How to join the Community Moderators group?

Keep contributing! We are always on the lookout for new Community Moderators who would be eager to reinforce the group.

If you have reached trust level 3 (Regular), you can already help out a lot!

This trust level allows you to Recategorize and rename topics. Feel free to make use of this feature, it helps out a lot!
