Also, make sure you have activities beta feed active to be able to download beta versions of our activity packs.

What’s new?

See the list below of what you can expect out of this 2019.8 update. We will come back to you with blogs explaining some of those features. Please give us your thoughts and leave your feedback here.

Introduction of new Agent Desktop

The old Robot Tray was replaced by new Agent Desktop.

This is the first iteration of a product that will be able to handle extensibility, white labeling, scheduling and starting background processes. Stay tuned for future releases.

Orchestration Process Template

Expand for screenshots

It allows for orchestrating Human tasks with Automation / Robot tasks and creating a high level process that can describe the entire / end to end business process (for example “Onboarding process”). This also brings a series of new activities that are able to persist state / execution in between 2 tasks (human/robot).

Please keep in mind that this feature depends on your Orchestrator settings. The current version of Orchestrator on our platform.uipath.com does not yet support it.

This feature also brings some new activities that support long running capabilities.

Background Process Template

You can now create a background process that does not necessarily require UI interaction.

Eventually, it will be possible to run multiple background processes at the same time with a foreground process. Stay tuned for the updates!

Debugging

Validate / Validate All and Error List

You can now scan your entire project for syntax errors and then display them in one convenient Errors pane.

As you can see, it spots the syntax error inside of the invoked workflow:

And this is only the beginning of this functionality.

Ability to run a single activity to debug it!

You can find Test Activity functionality in the context menu.

Export your logs from the Output pane to a text file to aid search

Debug first experience

With 4 options: Debug Project, Run Project, Debug File, Run File.

Watch and Local panes were improved

They now handle more things better (mainly arguments and complex data types).

Addition of the Immediate pane

You can now change variable and argument values in this convenient window (similar to the Watch and Locals panes, it is visible only during debugging).

Complete Revamp of Retry / Ignore / Continue / Break experience to make it easy to troubleshoot

Activities that threw the exception are now highlighted in red

Development

Shortcut help section was added when no XAML files are opened in your project

This will help you help you learn a few of our most commonly used shortcuts - what are yours?

image

Studio now offers centralized access to Project settings including Activities settings

This increases the speed of development and customization possibilities for your projects. Packages will load different sets of settings when added as dependencies. For example, UIAutomation will load two sets of settings: OCR and UI Automation related property settings.

Another example: set your Timeout once and it will apply across all UI Activities. It also has two configuration profiles, one for Debugging and one for Runtime , which makes development much easier.

We suppose to have enable and disable screenshots option. other wise it will create lot of garbage when we run in 24X7 mode.
