Is it mandatory to install UiPath studio for installing UiPath Extension for Citrix?

Hi All,
I was checking the installation instructions for installing UiPath Extension for Citrix on this link : Extension for Citrix (uipath.com).

From this link , it seems that UiPath studio has to be installed first as it asks to go to Studio or the UiPath installation folder. But in our case , we need to install only the Citrix extension as the client is not allowing us to install UiPath studio there. We would be installing the studio on a different VM from where we will access this client VM.

A screenshot is attached showing that UiPath Studio is required on the VM where you want to install the Citrix extension.

Hi @Wonderful

Alternate would be that you can copy the installation files from already studio installed machines and run from setup. You need the runtime to be installed first

thanks @Anil_G , you mean we need to first install runtime on the VM where we need to install the extension? Any idea how much space the runtime and the extension could take? Just asking as the client has limited space on the VM.

Is this for the client machine or the Citrix server? You have to install something on both.

Hi @Wonderful

The extension is not very heavy it would be few mb. Runtime on the other hand as per official docs required atleast 3.5 GB but I am sure it does not take that much. It would be consumed only if you run many bots as it creates log files and downloads many dependencies

Thanks again @Anil_G. Our plan is to install UiPath studio on VM1 and the extension on VM2 where the application resides(which the bot needs to make entries into).

So we need to install the UiPath runtime on VM1 or VM2?

You need to install run time on vm2.

Sure @Anil_G , will mark your answer as a solution. Just one last question on this post, so the extension will require few MBs and the Runtime will need few GBs on VM2? And VM1 will have UiPath studio?

I just received installer file for Runtime and it is only around 120 MB, do you mean once installed it would occupy few GBs?

Yes that’s correct. Extension is light runtime is only for installing the extension once and yes as bot needs to be developed you need studio on vm1
