Cannot install Robot

I have been building processes for a few weeks with the Community version of Studio to evaluate it for my company.

That’s going pretty well but I need to try to get a process to run hourly all weekend. I’ve set up the orchestrator job but it just sits pending.

I am not convinced Robot is even installed, but having read dozens of forum posts and the vague documentation about it, I just don’t know. I cannot see it in services. I have no UiRobotSvc registry entry. In orchstrator my robot is listed as being disconnected, but I cannot connect it.

Do I need to install more software? It’s really unclear as to where the breakdown is.

Sam.

Welcome to forums

You can go to licenses tab in orchestrator and can you share that

Thanks

Share what exactly? There’s very little on that tab.

To run hourly all weekend you need unattended robot license, but community has a limitation i believe that remote machine has to on always

Where the enterprise edition don’t have that limitation

Better you use enterprise edition to see the full capability of the UiPath, but it is a trail of 60 days only

Hope this helps

Thanks

There is one included in the community license.

@SammyJ

Did you provision robot in orchestrator?

Also for connecting to robot, you need to specify the URL as below

Hope this helps

Thanks

I have created a robot in orchestrator. I did enter the url, yes, with the account name and the tenant name. When I did so I believe it did a connection check and that seemed fine. But the job I created is still Pending. There is no error.

As I said, I don’t think I have “Robot” to connect to Orchestrator. How would I know? That’s really the question. Given it is the key component of your software it is really difficult to get a handle on, and it should be easy for you to tell me which part of the long chain of requirements is missing.

@SammyJ

Try to search for UiPath Assistant

There you can see the settings of the orchestrator if it is connected to orchestrator or not

Hope this helps

You can check from the Robots page in Orchestrator also whether it is connected or not

Thanks

In UIPath Assistant I can see that I am connected to Orchestrator:

However in Orchestrator it says my robot is Disconnected. How do I connect it?

@SammyJ

That is due to not licensed, you have to check the license page and whether your robot is assigned with license or not

Hope this helps

Thanks

Is the license page in Orchestrator or Assistant?

@SammyJ

Orchestrator, there you can see all the licenses available or acquired

Thanks

How do I use the license page to connect the robot?

I am fairly sure you’re mistaken.

If you read above, my robot says it is disconnected. Further above you’ll see there is a screenshot of the licenses page. I don’t understand why this is so difficult.

I still need help to connect the robot. It is disconnected. I should have one unattended robot, so how can I connect it?

OK, the folks at UiPath helped me out. You need to be sure that the robot you set up in Orchestrator has the username and password it will log into the remote machine as. Not sure why it needs to as you connect to Orchestrator from the remote machibne, but it does. The username needs to be your full username as found by opening a command window and entering “whoami”.

This presents a new problem as I now have given Orchestrator pretty much full access to my machine, so I think I need to learn a bit about user accounts. And again I think I’ll be troubled by the fact that I can’t find the Robot executable, but the progress I was looking for in this question has been solved.
