At UiPath, a key principle of our platform is customer choice. As part of that commitment, we are working to deliver suite capabilities and additional services that are currently only available in cloud available via other deployment options. This will also make it easier still for customers to easily port solutions between different deployment modes if they wish.
One requirement for this is to have consistency on user management and authentication capabilities across cloud and on-premises. Therefore, we need to retire 2 older capabilities that we have historically supported on-premises only, and replace them with approaches that are consistent across all our deployment options.
In the upcoming 2021.10 release, this will mean the following changes to Orchestrator on-premises:
- API access with Windows Auto-logon (NTLM authentication) will be discontinued . We are standardizing API access authentication using the OAuth support introduced in the 2021.4 release.
- Automatic Enrollment of Robots with Standard Machines (already deprecated) is being discontinued . Machine templates should be used to auto-enroll machines.
While many customers are already using these newer approaches, we wanted to let you know about these changes well in advance of the release, to maximize your available time for any migration planning required.
More broadly, we are excited about the even more consistent experience we will be able to offer across cloud and on-premises in 2021.10, but if you have any concerns about these specific changes, please reach out to support or your account team. Thank you for being a UiPath customer!
