Microsoft OCR on Windows Server (2012)

I am unable to run the Microsoft OCR and the Microsoft Cloud OCR engines on a machine running Windows Server 2012. No suggestions from the related forums (install MODI, install Sharepoint Designer, etc.) have solved the issue. It seems that the posters on other forums didn’t have their problem solved either. Is Microsoft OCR supported on Windows Server 2012? Is there another possible fix besides Sharepoint Designer and MODI? Thank you

The error message is: Microsoft OCR Error: Error performing OCR: MicrosoftErrorCreateEngine

Hey guys!

I saw this post open for a long time and no response, I had the same problem with Windows Server 2012.
To correct this problem, install the “Media Foundation” package, which is found in the role “Windows Server Essentials Experience”
That way when you run the OCR it will not show the error.
