Getting an error while using Microsoft OCR

Hi,

While using “Microsoft OCR” for reading PDF, getting below error-
“Read PDF With OCR: Error performing OCR: Unable to initialize Microsoft engine MicrosoftErrorCreateEngine”

If you have idea about this, please let me know.

Hi @Shivi

Try to reinstall the activity or Update it, if it’s not already done. Might be just a bugg, give it a try and see if it works.

Are you using Windows7 OS?.

Hello @Shivi,

Never encountered this problem with Windows10 however this is a common error in earlier versions of the OS.

As per the Microsoft documentations, In Windows 10, OCR is part of Windows SDK as Universal Windows Platform (UWP) API.

Just check if you are facing the same error in other Windows 10 systems.
You can also try by installing Windows 10 in a virtual machine (VirtualBox,VMware etc) and check if the OCR works.

As an alternative you can use the Tesseract OCR or other online OCRs if you have the API keys.

What’s the scale set to? I have gotten that error just from having the scale one or two points two high.

Scale was set to 2 but I also tried different value but nothing works out. Getting the same error every time.
