Automating Resume Preparation Using UiPath
Use Case Description
Ms. S.B. Indra, serving as the Class Representative for the Final Year CSE branch at Rajalakshmi Engineering College, faced an urgent situation at the start of the VII semester when a company announced an on-campus hiring event with short notice. Unfortunately, many of her classmates did not have their resumes prepared to participate in the hiring process. Consequently, the placement team at Rajalakshmi Engineering College approached Indra to expedite the collection of resumes and share them promptly. Indra had access to primary student details stored in an Excel file named Students.xlsx. This file contains fields such as Name, Email Id, Mobile Number, Father Name, DOB, Street, Locality, City, Pincode, SSLC School Name, SSLC Percentage, SSLC Year of Passing, HSc School Name, HSc Percentage, HSc Year of Passing, UG College Name, UG CGPA, UG Year of Passing, Area of Interest, Programming Skills, Awards, Paper Presentations, Project Presentations, Certifications, and more. As a member of the RPA club UiPhoria at Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Indra possesses strong knowledge of automation techniques. She planned to automate the resume preparation process by reading the Excel file and populating the data into a Word document resume template, randomly selecting one of the ten templates available in a designated folder. The Word document would then be converted into a PDF file, which would be shared with the respective student via email. This automation aims to streamline the resume preparation process, ensuring timely delivery and helping her classmates to participate in the hiring event without delay.
Objective:
Automate the process of creating resumes for students by populating data from an Excel file into Word document templates, converting them to PDF, and emailing them to students.
Prerequisites:
- UiPath Studio installed.
- Excel file (Students.xlsx) containing student details.
- Folder containing ten Word document resume templates.
- SMTP server details for sending emails.
