Use Case Description

Mr. I. Philip Praveen, working as the Director of Training and Placement at Rajalakshmi Engineering College, is preparing for an upcoming on-campus placement drive for Ganit Business Solutions Pvt. Ltd. He has shared a database with the company containing a list of eligible students in an Excel file with fields such as Roll Number, Name, Gender, Date of Birth, SSLC Percentage, HSC Percentage, UG Degree, UG Branch, UG CGPA, Number of Standing Arrears, Mobile Number, College Email ID, and Resume Drive Link. The company’s HR requested him to download all the resumes from the provided drive links and save them in a folder, renaming each file according to the format RollNo-Name.pdf or RollNo-Name.docx based on the file type. Given the urgency, with only one day left before the placement drive, manually collecting and renaming the resumes from all 993 eligible students is an arduous task. He sought help from his team members, Mr. Sherin Maniraj and Mr. I. Sankar, Placement Executives, who also found the task overwhelming and error-prone. Consequently, they approached Mr. B. Bhuvaneswaran, an Assistant Professor (SG) in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, known for his expertise in UiPath, an RPA tool. To assist them, a bot using UiPath can be designed to automate the process of opening and downloading the resumes from the drive links in the Excel file and renaming them using the columns Roll Number and Name from the same file. This automation will ensure efficiency, accuracy, and timely completion of the task, alleviating the burden on the team and meeting the company’s requirements.

Objective:
Automate the download of resumes from drive links provided in an Excel file and rename them according to the format RollNo-Name.pdf or RollNo-Name.docx.
