Automating Lesson Completion Verification Using UiPath

Automating Lesson Completion Verification Using UiPath

Use Case Description

Mr. B. Bhuvaneswaran, an Assistant Professor (SG) in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Chennai, is handling the course CS19611-Mobile Application Development Laboratory for third-year, sixth-semester students of the CSE department. To enhance this laboratory course, he required his students to register for the “Android Development with Kotlin” course offered by Google, which comprises 13 lessons. Additionally, he instructed the students to create and publicize their Google Developer Profiles, allowing anyone to monitor their course progress. A part of the internal mark (50) is determined by the completion of these lessons. At the end of the course, Mr. Bhuvaneswaran needs to calculate the internal marks for all his 70 students. Manually checking each student’s profile to verify lesson completion is tedious and time-consuming. He has all the student details in an Excel file named Google_Dev.xlsx, which contains columns such as Sl No, Roll No, Name, Profile Link, Lesson-1 to Lesson-13, and Internal Marks in Sheet1. To streamline this process, he plans to develop a UiPath RPA bot that reads the Excel file, retrieves each student’s Google Developer Profile link, and uses the Element Exists activity to identify the completion status of each lesson (from 1 to 13), updating the respective column with a value of ‘Y’. This automation will significantly expedite the calculation of internal marks and can be shared with other faculty members handling the same laboratory course for different student groups.

Objective:

Automate the verification of lesson completion for students and update their progress in an Excel file to facilitate the calculation of internal marks.

Prerequisites:

  1. UiPath Studio installed.
  2. Excel file (Google_Dev.xlsx) - Loading Google Sheets containing columns: Sl No, Roll No, Name, Profile Link, Lesson-1 to Lesson-13, and Internal Marks.
  3. Google Developer Profiles of students made public.
