Unable to upgrade to Orchestrator v23.10 due to the error "The existing database validation failed with the following errors: - Orchestrator versions that contain classic folders can't be upgraded".

Issue Description: Despite all classic folders are removed, following error "The existing database validation failed with the following errors: - Orchestrator versions that contain classic folders can't be upgraded" when trying to upgrade to Orchestrator v23.10.

Resolution:

  1. Classic folders were completely removed in Orchestrator v23.10 as described here: Overview - Classic folders removal (uipath.com)
  2. Before upgrading, delete all existing classic folders in all the tenants - Upgrading to Orchestrator 2023.10.

If it is confirmed that there are no classic folders in the active tenants, but still the error is thrown, check that there are no inactive tenants that may contain classic folders:

  1. Login to the Host Management Portal: Orchestrator - Host Administration Portals (uipath.com)
  2. Validate if there are tenants disabled:
  1. For being able to complete the upgrade, mark the tenant as 'deleted' from SQL database - Knowledge: Delete Tenants on Orchestrator (salesforce-sites.com).
  2. Set IsDeleted = 1 / IsActive = 0 -- The tenant can re-activated because the record will not be deleted from the database.
  3. To perform a full clean-up of the tenant data such as logs, jobs, notifications, assets from database, open a support ticket to UiPath support for further instructions.

After marking the tenant as 'deleted', the upgrade can be completed successfully.
