"Show Excel window" randomly not working

No matter if I set “Show Excel window” flagh in UiPath.Excel.Activites.Business.ExcelProcessScopeX activity, randomly ir either keeps showing it or it stays hidden.
Moreover, after the script finishes or I stop it manually or during a debug session if I stop it, the Excel process stay in the background in Windows.

Hi @pere

Sometimes, it will not work just remove and replace the same excel process scope activity it will works.
In the Use excel file activity make sure to uncheck the Keep excel file open option.

Hope it helps!!

Thanks for helping, @mkankatala. The “Keep excel file open” option is not checked:

Regarding the “delete the activity and insert it again” trick, I’m not daring doing it. According to UiPath staff members and a lot of replies from other people in this forum, I should be doing that a milion times per day to get these very basic things working. It’s time for them to address such lame bugs.

There is no more options to not open the Excel file we have to change the show Excel window false. If it’s not work sometimes then delete and replace the new activity.

If you have much activities inside excel process scope, then collapse the use Excel file activity and drag it outside the Excel process scope then delete it.

Drag and drop new excel process scope activity and insert the use Excel file activity inside it.

If you got the solution for your query make mark it as solution to close the loop.

Hope you understand!! @pere

Sorry @mkankatala; I understand it’s important for you for some reason (probably to get good reputation for work purposes, for offering sevices as consultant or whatever), but as this is mainly a bug report and the problem is still happening, I can’t choose your answer as a “solution”…

Hope you understand also.

Best regards

I am not a consultant and whatever you are thinking @pere , I am a developer and community member. I contribute to the forum. If it is a bug then raise your query ticket to UiPath Support.

Thank you @mkankatala; I knew the existence of the technical support, also, and have resorted to it in the cases it is strictly necessary, as it takes a lot of time and effort for them to address and solve a specific critical problem (an also for me). When it’s something like that, I prefer to report it in the FEEDBACK/BUG forum so they can considere if you wish to treat/have them into account.

Cheers,

Pere

Hi @pere ,

Thank you for flagging this - I had a couple of follow up questions regarding this as I was unable to repro this.

  • Are there some conditions where this repro’es? (i.e. are there certain activities where the Excel window is opened?)
  • What version of Excel and Studio are you using?
  • Is the Excel file open by any chance at the start of the process?

Many thanks,
Raluca

Hi @pere ,

Quick follow here in case we can have a sample project that could help us investigate this.

Many thanks,
Raluca
