How to download a file through API with a dynamic file name and extension?

Hi,

How do I make the resource path dynamic? The name and extension of incoming files would keep changing. It could be a pdf, docx, jpeg or png. I want the bot to download which ever file is present in the API call.

I am able to download the file by putting the file name in resource path -

But the problem is - If I put “File.docx” there, every file is downloaded and saved as a docx file. This causes files to get corrupted.

There isn’t a way for me to get the file name and extension through API calls. If that was possible, I’d have got the name and extension, and put that in the resource path.

I am not much concerned with the file name. I don’t mind saving it with a generic name. But the extension of file is important because I do not want files to get corrupted.

So, how do I make the resource path dynamic, to download file with the original extension?

Thank you.

Hi @varuns ,

Could you let us know some more detail about the API ? Were you able to test this in Postman and receive the file as needed ?

Could you let us know what is the Content-type value if it is present as header ?

More details on the API being used would be helpful, Also it’s response if any other is available.
