How are debugging logs created for troubleshooting UiExplorer issues?

Preface

When trying to get selectors using UiExplorer, sometimes the entire application or container is selected instead of the target element.

When issues like this happen Low Level Trace, Studio Log, Execution Log cannot capture this UiExplorer errors and a different method is necessary.

How to activate logging

  1. Install Debug View
  2. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/debugview
  3. Create an Environment Variable named "UIPATH_LOG_LEVEL" and assign it a value. Options are "ERROR", "INFO", "VERBOSE". "INFO" is recommended. Follow these steps: Control Panel > System > Advanced System Settings > Environment Varibles... > Press New... under System Variables
  4. Start DebugView
  5. Open UiExplorer and attempt to replicate the issue
  6. Save the generated Logs.
