When running the UiPath, Error opening workbook. Make sure Excel is installed

Hi Community,

I would like to ask how we can solve the issues as below :

I try to search in forum and go through it but i couldn’t make it based on the suggested solution.

many thanks for your help.

@SH_94

Is Excel application installed in your machine ?

Hi @lakshman ,

Yes…it is installed under my machine.

This is the package that i use.

Thank you.

Hi @SH_94 ,

Microsoft Project Professional is not Microsoft Excel. I believe it is a different product. Simply clicking Windows’ Start button and typing “Excel” should give you a clue if it is installed or not.

@SH_94

Try to open any Excel file in your machine and check it once.

Hi @ticsrobo.au ,

Yes…It is installed under my machine.

Thank you.

Hi @lakshman ,

Yes…i able to open my excel and do the project.

Hi

Try using workbook activities instead of excel based activities
As it can run even if excel application is not installed in your machine

Hi @Palaniyappan ,

Is there any way to solve this if i want to use the excel based activities?

Reason being is that the workflow is not produced by me and i don’t dare to change my colleagues workflow.

Thank you.

Hi @SH_94,

I’m afraid this is probably more of an excel issue rather than a UiPath one. Try this:

  1. Open Microsoft Windows Settings.
  2. Click Apps to open the Apps & features window.
  3. Find and click your Microsoft application in the list, such as Microsoft Office 365.
  4. Select Modify, then Quick Repair, and follow the onscreen instructions.
  5. Once the fix is applied, retry your running your automation.

Fine let’s try upgrading excel package and give a try

Try to check you task manager for Excel instances. If there are multiple instances of Excel force stop all the Excel application and try to execute your workflow.

As an alternative, you can go with workbook activity if excel activities are not working.

Thanks.
