Hi,

My Workspace is Personal Workspace which is designed for personal use. We cannot share any processes etc with other users. And other folder including Shared is normal Folder. The following document will help you for further understanding of it.

Hi @Ritaman_Baral ,

The assets , queues , processes, jobs everything created in a shared workspace is shared among the users of the orchestrator whereas what we created in personal workspace is accessible only to the user who created it.

Thanks,
Gautham.

Suppose I create few more folder such as “HR”,“IT Department”.
These folders will have same functionality, behaviour and access as “Shared” folder only ?

Hi,

We can mange these Folder as same as Shared as the following. Please note that Personal Workspace is special folder and we cannot change access right etc to it.

Regards,

Hii,
The Key difference is:

My Workspace:

  • Personal Area: It’s a dedicated space for individual developers or users to create, manage, and organize their automation projects.
  • Private Environment: Projects within My Workspace are not directly visible or accessible to other users by default. You can control who can see and interact with your projects by assigning specific permissions.
  • Development and Experimentation: My Workspace is ideal for developing new automations, testing ideas, and iterating without impacting shared projects.
  • Ownership: You are the sole owner of projects created in My Workspace.

Shared:

  • Collaborative Environment: This is the central repository for storing and managing automations that multiple users can access and work on.
  • Version Control and Governance: Shared folders enforce version control, ensuring everyone works on the latest version of an automation. Permissions can be set to control who can view, edit, or publish projects within the Shared folder structure.
  • Deployment and Execution: Projects within the Shared folder are typically intended for deployment and execution by robots.
  • Ownership: Ownership of projects in the Shared folder can be assigned to specific users or groups.

Thank you.

In UiPath Orchestrator, there are differences between “My Workspace” folders and “Shared” folders in terms of access and visibility:

  1. My Workspace Folders:

    • Personal Space: My Workspace folders are specific to individual users and provide a personal space for each user in Orchestrator.
    • Access Control: Users have full control and ownership over the processes, assets, and other resources within their My Workspace folders.
    • Visibility: Resources created or published within My Workspace folders are visible and accessible only to the user who created them unless explicitly shared with others.
  2. Shared Folders:

    • Collaborative Space: Shared folders are designed for collaboration among multiple users or teams within Orchestrator.
    • Access Control: Users with appropriate permissions can access and work on resources (such as processes, assets, and queues) within Shared folders based on the roles and permissions assigned to them by the Orchestrator administrator.
    • Visibility: Resources within Shared folders are visible to all users who have access to the folder based on their roles and permissions, promoting collaboration and teamwork.

In summary, My Workspace folders are personal spaces for individual users, while Shared folders are collaborative spaces for teams or groups of users. The choice of where to place resources depends on the need for personal ownership or collaborative work within your automation projects in UiPath Orchestrator.
