We are trying to Install Automation Suite on a Linux Server - Got Queries - URGENT

We are trying to Install Automation Suite on a Linux Server - We have the following questions from our IT team?

  1. any server routing is required?
    Source to destination? Please specify and provide the reason.

  2. Server routing - Any VPN access needed? To add routing at the server to point it to firewall GW for those server with F5 backend IP address?

  3. Is the installation or Automation Suite required Root ID?

  4. If the Organization already have a SQL DB Backup, can the backup and restore work without NFS?

  • For the App/Web server is a Server Backup sufficient?

We will be really helpful if any of you can answer all these questions. Thanks in advance

ashokkarale - Can you please help ?

Hey @Ritabrata_Ghosh sorry no expertise in the Infrastructure. I would suggest to get it checked with UiPath if you are on Enterprise license.

Thanks,

Hi @Ritabrata_Ghosh ,

I had installed Automation Suite in our Linux Server last year. Although not all, I’ve added my comments / clarifications to some of your questions below;

  1. Can you clarify what do they mean by source and destination? I hope it’s not about how a user / bot would access the Automation Suite FQDN, because that will just require a DNS entry and in some cases a firewall port opening.
  2. Does it mean that your Automation Suite will be behind an F5?
  3. Most likely yes, unless you’re using a CI/CD pipeline to run the installation, you might require a temporary sudo root access to install.
  4. I will let UiPath experts answer this, but from my understanding, the NFS is configured for the cluster backup and it doesn’t backup the database or even the external object store (if you are using any). So you’d still require an SQL backup from your organization.
