UiPath Studio Dark Theme UI Becomes Illegible

Does anyone know why the Dark Theme UI on Studio appears to bug out after some time? Everything working and looking good for months, then out of nowhere, this happens. This is the second time this has happened (first time on a different machine). It almost seems like “High Contrast” mode is enabled at a limited capacity or “Light Mode” is blending with “Dark Mode”. It makes some words very hard to read. It might also be worth noting that I synchronize projects/repositories across different machines with GitHub.

I have UiPath Enterprise 2019.10.4

Things I’ve tried:

  1. Disabled Dark Theme
  2. Re-enabled Dark Theme
  3. Uninstalled UiPath Enterprise
  4. Ran CCleaner (Custom and Registry cleaners)
  5. Restarted
  6. Reinstalled UiPath Enterprise

Issue persists and persists on any/all projects (newly created and old).

Any ideas?

Are you able to check if same issue persist when you try to run it in newest Studio CE version?

  1. Uninstalled UiPath Enterprise (with CCleaner)
  2. Deleted folders:
  • …\Users\ .nuget
  • …\AppData\Local\UiPath
  • …\AppData\Local\UiPath Web
  • …\AppData\Roaming\UiPath
  1. Ran CCleaner (Custom and Registry cleaners)
  2. Restarted
  3. Again, Ran CCleaner (Custom and Registry cleaners)
  4. Installed UiPath Studio Preview 2020.2.0-beta.108
  5. Opened Studio and Enabled Dark Mode (restarted Studio)
  6. Opened an Existing Project

This appears to be working fine!

Repeated the steps above, but this time reinstalling Enterprise Edition…

  1. Uninstalled UiPath CE (with CCleaner)
  2. Deleted folders:
  • …\Users\ .nuget
  • …\Users\AppData\Local\UiPath
  • …\Users\AppData\Local\UiPath Web
  • …\Users\AppData\Roaming\UiPath
  1. Ran CCleaner (Custom and Registry cleaners)
  2. Restarted
  3. Again, Ran CCleaner (Custom and Registry cleaners)
  4. Installed UiPath Enterprise 2019.10.4
  5. Connected Robot
  6. Activated License
  7. Opened Studio and Enabled Dark Mode (restarted Studio)
  8. Opened an Existing Project (same project used in CE test)

Everything is looking good now! Of course, I’ll have to reconfigure all my settings and re-download my packages, but that’s fine. At least I can use Dark Mode again.

I couldn’t tell you which of the added steps resolved the issue (either deleting the AppData\UiPath folders or .nuget folder or some parameter in CE overwriting a stored setting), but hopefully this will help anyone who runs into the same issue!

Thank you for such brilliant test and description. Anyway I will report this issue internally as it might be potential Studio bug for this version.
