This Installation Package Could Not Be Opened. Contact The Application Vendor To Verify That This Is A Valid Windows Installer Package - KB

How to fix the error "This installation package could not be open. Contact the application vendor." when installing UiPath Studio/Robot?

Issue Description:

The error message "This Installation Package Could Not Be Opened. Contact The Application Vendor To Verify That This Is A Valid Windows Installer Package." commonly occurs when you try to install UiPath Studio using the MSI package. This message indicates an issue with accessing or running the MSI file.

Root cause:

This error might surface due to many reasons:

  1. The installer of a deprecated product version is used.
  2. The installer file is corrupted or incomplete.
  3. Windows user permissions restrictions.
  4. The location of the installer file may be inaccessible or blocked.
  5. Antivirus or firewall settings that block the application installation.

Resolution:

  1. Check the Version of Installer Used: Ensure that the installer used is not an Out Of Support Version. Upgrade to a supported version and installer can downloaded from UiPath Customer Portal. The lifecycle of our products is detailed.
  2. Check File Integrity: Ensure the MSI installer file is not corrupt. You can do this by downloading the file again from UiPath Customer Portal.
  3. Admin Privileges: Verify that you have administrative rights on the system if you prefer Custom installation of Studio. Right-click on the installation file and choose "Run as Administrator".
  4. File Location: Make sure the path to the Studio MSI file is valid and accessible. Avoid network locations or potentially unreliable sources, instead, copy the installer file to a local drive and try again.
  5. Disable Antivirus/Firewall: Some antivirus software or firewall settings might block certain aspects of the installation. Temporarily disable these, or add the UiPath MSI installer to a 'whitelist' or 'allowlist'. Remember to re-enable these features immediately after resolving the issue to maintain system security.
  6. Reinstall .NET Framework: UiPath software demands a specific .NET Framework version (Prerequisites). If the version is not compatible or the .NET Framework is missing altogether, it could lead to such issues. Reinstalling or updating .NET Framework might overcome the issue.

NOTE: Always remember to create a reliable backup of your data before performing any troubleshooting steps or modifications to your existing installation. Contact UiPath Support if the recommendations do not resolve the error.
