Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {0006F03A-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} failed due to the following error: 80080005 Server execution failed (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80080005 (CO_E_SERVER_EXEC_FAILURE))

To whom it may concern,

I spent several hours debugging the error below. Ultimately the resolution was to run outlook as an administrator. I’m running windows 10 pro build 1909

20.4.0-beta.472

Hi @PatrickReddy

Just to keep you in the loop → this issue should be fixed in our following release

Was this issue resolved? I’m started seeing it this morning and I’m on 2020.4.1. My company is planning on updating to 2020.10 at the end of the month. Is there an interim fix? There was another post in the forum about a registry entry, but I don’t want to circumvent a security policy.

Hi @david.mowry

The issue should be fixed starting from 20.6, which means that the latest 20.10 Enterprise will have it included.

Great news! Thank you @loginerror!

Hi @loginerror ,

We are using 20.10.2 Enterprise version.

Where we have downgraded the Ms.Office Application from 0365 to 2016 due to Sign-in Limits for a user in multiple pc’s, Will this be a root cause for the below error as the Interop has changed now from higher version to lower version in the robot PC,

Info: Error opening workbook. Make sure Excel is installed.

RemoteException wrapping System.Exception: Error opening workbook. Make sure Excel is installed. —> RemoteException wrapping System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {00024500-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} failed due to the following error: 80080005 Server execution failed (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80080005 (CO_E_SERVER_EXEC_FAILURE)).

We had no issues when the robot pc’s had the same version of Ms.office as in the development enviroment.

It is generally advised to have keep parity between dev and prod environments. Apart from trying out our tool to repair any misconfiguration with Office (see Studio tools section), I could advise contact with our technical support via this form:
