RemoteException Wrapping System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Attempted To Perform An Unauthorized Operation

UiPath Assistant is not opening (showing up). When Admin tries to open it was opening as expected.

Issue: UiPath Assistant is not opening (showing up). When Admin tries to open it was opening as expected.

Error in the Event Viewer:

RemoteException wrapping System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Attempted to perform an unauthorized operation.

Troubleshooting Steps / Resolution:

  1. Uninstall the Studio.
  2. Navigate to the below location paths, and Try deleting the Folder named UiPath if exist.
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\UiPath
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\UiPath Platform
    • C:\Program Files\UiPath
    • C:\Program Files\UiPath Platform
    • C:\ProgramData\UiPath
    • %APPDATA%\UiPath
    • %APPDATA%\NuGet
    • %LOCALAPPDATA%\Temp\nuget
    • %LOCALAPPDATA%\Temp\NuGetScratch
    • %LOCALAPPDATA%\NuGet
    • %LOCALAPPDATA%\UiPath
    • %APPDATA%\Roaming\UiPath
    • %USERPROFILE%\.nuget
    • %temp%\nuget
    • %appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
  3. Now run the UiPathStudio.msi as an Admin User if needed or could also be a local user
  4. Up on installing, open the UiPath Assistant --> Preferences --> Connection Type "Service URL", provide the Service URL
  5. Would also suggest to Restart the machine
  6. Up on logging back as a local user. you will be able to launch the assistant and works as expected.
