"qualified file name is too long" error with Object Repository

Using the Object Repository I get the “qualified file name is too long” error. Can someone tell me what the simple fix to this is?

The specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters.

Error: RemoteException wrapping System.IO.PathTooLongException: The specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters.

I could probably be almost described as a veteran now. I couldn’t find the answer hence the question. It doesn’t stop me from making progress, so if you don’t know the answer no problem, it’s just a bit irritating.

Its not answered, hence not marking it as a solution.

This is a Windows error. Windows only allows paths under a certain number of characters. Due to where you have your project files stored, the paths for the object files (saved into a hidden subfolder of your project) are too long. Move your project to C:\Temp and then you’ll see that you don’t get this error any more.

Ok and thanks.
