Dear Automation Suite customers
In our commitment towards continuous improvement, we are transitioning from UiPath legacy Apps to VB Apps in Automation Suite. UiPath legacy apps or previous generation apps that use legacy expression language will be deprecated over the next 12 months. To avoid disruptions please upgrade your application to the new VB apps in the below timeframe.
Phase | Automation Cloud Timeline |
---|---|
You no longer have the option to create new Legacy Apps in Automation Suite (you can still edit, clone, and import Legacy Apps) | October 2024 (2024.10) |
Legacy Apps and their runtime are removed (end-of-support). | October 2025 (2025.10) |
As part of our commitment towards continuous improvement, we are transitioning from Legacy Apps to VB Apps. This transition brings a number of benefits, mainly access to VB expressions. VB expressions enable you to build apps faster through a more robust language, which is also used by other UiPath products. This removes the need for you to learn an additional language.
Starting with the 2024.10 release in October 2024, you can no longer create new Legacy Apps in Automation Suite. You can still edit, clone, and import any existing Legacy Apps. As such, we recommend that you plan your migration accordingly.
Starting with the 2025.10 release in October 2025, Legacy Apps and their associated runtime will be removed and no longer supported.
As part of our customer commitment, we will continue to provide bug fixes for core features until end-of-support.
We understand the importance of this transition and are here to support you throughout the migration process. Keep in mind that Legacy Apps features in versions of Automation Suite prior to 2024.10 will function as-is.
We recommend that you regularly check the deprecation timeline for any updates regarding features that will be deprecated and removed.
Please Note: This timeline is separate from previous deprecation announcement of Legacy Apps for Automation Cloud.

FAQ
Will my legacy Apps stop working ?
Legacy Apps in Automation Suite will continue to work until 25.10 upgrade. 24.10 will not be able to create new Legacy Apps but only VB apps. If customers do not upgrade, they would not see any impact but would miss out on crucial updates across release. Please plan your migration before the deadline to avoid any interruptions. Automation Cloud customers should refer the separate announcement
How do I know if my app is legacy or VB?
There are two methods to check that your app is impacted.
- if the app URL contains the following parameter: el=LEGACY
- if you edit your app and you see the Migration Utility tool that says Migrate to VB
Will I lose my data if I use the migration tool ?
No, the Apps migration utility tool creates a separate VB app. Your old app is untouched and not impacted. For issues with expressions migration to VB please refer to the VP migration guide.
