Hello everyone,
I am rather new to UiPath and have my first “big” topic, which requires me to first download a report from SAP, import into an Excel sheet and furthermore read it line by line into a PDF tax form using Adobe Reader.
When I was browsing the web for a solution regarding the PDF part, I came around a solution using the activity-package " PDF.co.API.activities" and the package “iTextSharp”. I tried to install those packages but I am not able to do so, due to receiving the “error” message “No compatible version with Windows projects” for both packages.
I also tried using the app/web recorder, which was not really successful due to the numbers not being filled in correctly (e.g. 385.048 simply cuts before the “.” → so only 385 is visible in the field I want to use instead of the whole number)
My question is now if I do anything wrong in trying to install those packages or if my version is outdated or “too modern”. In case of this being the cause, is there any other possible solution I can read the Excel lines into my pdf file?
In case of any other information you need, please let me know, I am happy to provide
Thank you guys very much in advance and best regards,
Woody
EDIT: The fields in the PDF can and need to be replicated by a press of a button. So the underlying field names seem to be the same all the time after adding another line with the button press in the pdf. A non-clickable consecutive numbering is added though (so I guess I will need OCR as well to create a loop based on the numbering?)
Hi @MrWoody ,
Your topic is long and have some children topic haha
I see
1.you need go to website download file → it ok?
2.you can read PDF → you can find package or not install them, that’s right?
3.import data from PDF to Excel
→ this step I need you clear format PDF and Excel file, what are they need get and paste… etc
4.Version of studio
→ you should try newest version is 23.8.0
If have problem when install package in this version you can ask me
Your QA : other way to get data from PDF to Excel, that’s right?
→ I think all way to get data from PDF, the best is read PDF,
you can convert to word, but is not easy
Have any QA, tell me

Hi @Nguyen_Van_Luong1,
the problem that I have is not to get data from PDF to Excel but rather the other way around. From Excel to PDF (fields).
So my problem is within writing rather than the reading range of PDF capabilities.
Do you also have an idea for that?
Thank you so much in advance!
Hi,
You can use Click and type into
Open file PDF
use click location need write
type into data to file

Hi,
is there a better way to do this? I have a changing number of Excel lines I need to put into the pdf file - always a few hundred, so using a click and type into statements would take me quite some hours and it would not be dynamic in a way that I need it.
Thank you very much in advance
Currently UiPath does not have any support package for writing pdf files
Depending on the format of that pdf file, we can consider converting it to recorded word and then converting it back to pdf
because now it is quite easy for UiPath to write word files and convert word to PDF

The conversion would be a good idea, but also seems rather impossible to achieve (as the pdf file is a bit more complex → see screenshot below)
Usually I have the needed fields (marked in red) which need to be filled. As soon as they are filled (based on the excel data) I should click onto “Adauga operatie” which adds another line for the next data entry (this is only possible when the line before that is filled in correctly). And this process repeats for some few hundred lines.
I tried the conversion just now and to be honest it looks like a big mess in word. So I really have to stick to the PDF-File at all costs due to this being an official tax form.
Can you think of any other possible solution for this?
Thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it!
oh, I see your requirements
With this file, we should not convert word
with my exp, I think click and type into is best choice
sorry if it not help you

I will definitely give it a try and will attempt to wrap the “click and type into” inside of a loop. In case of having any trouble, do you mind if I get back to you again?
Thank you very much in advance and best regards,
Woody
