For anyone else that encounters this problem: The solution was to open UiPath Assistant and try to connect. While it showed as unlicensed and produced the error message, there were buttons “Disconnect” or “Sign Out”. Clicking Sign Out (specifically) from UiPath assistant seems resolve this. I tried to connect again with exactly the same credentials and the license was acquired immediately.
