Use excel file as a template and save the result as a separate file

What would be the optimal way to do the following - paste values using write cell into an excel template with formulas and formatting and save as a separate file so that the template can be further reused.

You can keep your template in a common share path, when ever you need to create a new excel with this format then you can copy and paste this excel template into the new path. Then you can write the data on the copied new excel file.

can you copy/paste formatting and formulas on the background?

If your template has the formatting and formula the same will be retained during a file copy. I think no issue will come on that. But when you are writing data on that file only you have to consider that.
