Step-by-step guide to configuring an unattended robot on a virtual machine

Hi everyone,

I have a virtual machine ready, and I want to set up an unattended robot on it. However, I’m not sure what the next steps are, and I would really appreciate a detailed explanation of the configuration process.

  1. Do I need to install UiPath Studio on the virtual machine, or is UiPath Assistant enough?
  2. If I need UiPath Studio, what initial configurations should I make?
  3. Is UiPath Assistant required for an unattended robot? If so, how should I configure it?
  4. What are the necessary settings in Orchestrator to register and correctly use the robot?
  5. Are there any additional configurations I should be aware of?

I would highly appreciate a detailed response based on your experience to ensure I set up everything correctly. I’d prefer an actual explanation rather than just a link to the documentation, as I’ve had difficulty finding concrete steps there.

Thanks a lot!

@Alexandru_Duta

  1. Add the user under tenant ->Manage access → add user and then assign robot role to that user under roles
  2. add a amchine with required machine details and add an unattended license (increase the number >0)(Tenant → machines → add machine)
  3. Now install only robot in service mode when you open the installer you would get the option to select. And then after installation use the machine key generated in step2 to connect to the orchestartor
  4. Assign the machine and robot to the folders you need

cheers
