What is runtime?

Continuing the discussion from How can l log to Uipath:

I’ve successfully updated UiPath, but the program my former mentor left behind won’t start. I’m so upset. I’m just an intern, and I don’t know anything about this program :smiling_face_with_tear:

Hi @hongyijia

Check this- Assign Robots in Orchestrator My Workspace Folder - Tutorial | UiPath

Hi @hongyijia,

Don’t worry! We all start somewhere.

I would suggest start with the UiPath Automation Developer Associate training (https://academy.uipath.com/learning-plans/automation-developer-associate-training) on UiPath Academy. Create an account, enrol in the training and follow the learning path. It will help you build a strong foundation in UiPath.

For your this query:
A Runtime is like a licence that allows a robot to run an automation. Currently, no licence or Runtime is assigned to your tenant, which is why you are getting this error.

Thanks!

Hi @hongyijia,

Don’t worry, everyone faces this in the beginning.

A runtime is basically a licence that lets a robot run one job. When a job is running, it uses one runtime. If no runtime is assigned or free, the job will not start.

Please check these things in Orchestrator:

  1. Go to Tenant > Machines, open the machine (or machine template) your robot uses, and see if any runtimes are assigned to it. If it shows 0, that is the issue.
  2. Runtimes can only be assigned if your organization’s licence has them. If not, you need to ask the person who manages your UiPath licences.
  3. Go to Tenant > Folders and check that both the user and the machine are assigned to the folder where the process is.
  4. When you click Start on a job, check the Runtime type and the Available and Connected count shown below it.

If you are running from My Workspace, do refer the link shared by @prashant1603765

Also try the UiPath Academy course suggested by @iampnkz, it is really good for basics.
