‘table’ G title formatting problem
I am trying to enter a title for the second table (the table immediately following first table’s title is ‘Appendix F – Layout of the Congressional Refusal File’) which should have the title ‘Appendix G – Layout of the Interview Extract File’.
1-When the cursor is to the right of the last row of ‘table’ F (‘INTNO’ is the first cell in the first column named ‘Variable Name’ in the last row of this table), I can’t advance the cursor to the top of the following page (where ‘table’ G is). Instead, when I press enter, a new blank row below the current last row of ‘table’ F gets created.
2-When the cursor is inside the following table (‘table’ G) in the first cell of the first row in the first column named ‘Variable Name’, the cursor does not move when I press the up arrow.
3-I am not able to get the cursor to go ‘outside’ (either just below ‘table’ F or just above ’table’ G) such that I would be able to enter a title for ’table’ G.
I added some explanatory text in a text box immediately below ‘table’ F on the same page as ‘table’ F.
However, this workaround won’t help because I need the title in the ‘heading 1’ style so that it can be part of the table of contents. Each ‘table’ title is like a chapter name.
Perhaps there may be some hidden embedded formats that are causing MS Word to behave this way.
How can I add a title above/outside of the second ‘table’ (table G) ?
I would appreciate any advice about how to go about this.
