Issue with Unattended Test licenses in the Test environment

Hi everyone,

we are working with a client and facing an issue with the Unattended Test licenses in the Test (non-production) environment.

  • The 4 UiPath – Flex – Unattended Robot (Test) licenses are visible in Orchestrator.

  • However, no [Robot] Service is consuming them, so they remain unused. (see the screenshots)

  • From UiPath we were told these licenses can be used to run automations in non-production (without Test Manager), but configuration seems to be the blocker.

Question:
Could someone share:

  1. The correct setup steps in [Orchestrator] and [Robot]Service to enable these licenses.
  2. Any reference guides or best practices for using Unattended Test robots in a non-production environment.

Thanks a lot for your support!

So you need to assign the licences to a machine template, I assume you have not done that?
Once you get Test Licences a new option will appear

This is what it looks like if you have no Test licences,

But when you do it looks like this (Dark mode is just a theme difference between these orgs)

Once you do that, add the machine template to a folder and the robot account to a folder in the same way you do with a normal unattended robot, and then you can start test cases or test set uploaded to that folder.
Indeed you do NOT need Test Manager to consume these licences.

Hi John, thank you for the answer!
Our situation is that: we don’t see any field:

Can you help us in understading why?
regards

Strange, that would be what I’d expect to see if no licences were available on your tenant.

Do you have any Production accounts at all on your organization?

I can try to experiment on what I see if I only have Test licences added to a tenant, but just want to check first if you are using multiple tenants that could be making things go weird?

I can still add them if I only have Test Licences allocated to my tenant.

Taking a closer look at this, I notice you have got an On Premise install, thats quite likely the issue here. I am afraid I am not an expert on the On prem infrastructure when it comes to testing, there is a message in your screenshot saying a module needs to be installed?

Hi John! yes you’re right! We are on pre. 23.4 (it should be).
and this is the error message: “Using this license requires the testing module of Orchestrator to be installed”, you know what it is?

@Riccardo_Vecchi

As per error looks like you installed standalone orchestrator ..Test manager setup needs to be made

cheers

Thank you!
can you share me the documentation or briefly write down how to do that correctly?

Thank you so much!

Hi Richcardo,

I dont know for sure how the on premise orchestrator manages this, perhaps you need to install that module but dont need to run test manager, sorry this isnt a strong topic for me.

Do you still have contact with the person from UiPath who said this was fine?

Hello @Riccardo_Vecchi,

Follow these steps:-

1.Check Licenses → Admin → Licenses → Verify Unattended runtimes available.
2.Check Permissions → Tenant → Users → Roles → Ensure you can edit Machines and Licenses.
3.Edit Machine Template → Runtime field will now be visible.
4.Assign License → Add runtime count.
5.Validate Machine Status → Connected & Licensed.

@Riccardo_Vecchi

please check

cheers
