How about using activities under System-File-Workbook or WordDocument?
These activities can read or write each type file (xlsx or docx etc.) without Excel or Word application.

It primarily focuses on integration with Microsoft Office applications like Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. However, you may still be able to interact with WPS Office applications using UiPath by leveraging some general automation techniques which involves using activities like “Click,” “Type Into,” and “Get Text” to automate the user interface of WPS Office applications.

Can you try to install UiPath.Word.Activities package via ManagePackages?
We can read/write docx without MS Word.
