How to collect system information from a Windows operating system to effectively troubleshoot UiPath products?
Introduction: The steps that need to be taken when attempting to collect the system information from Windows Operative Systems using the Microsoft System Information tool.
Objective:
Microsoft System Information (Msinfo32.exe) gathers information about a Windows OS and displays a comprehensive view of your hardware, system components, and software environment. The significance of these reports lies in their utility for UiPath Product Support Engineers, who can utilize and analyze them to diagnose issues associated with the computer or server that have the potential to impact the performance of UiPath products.
Compatibility:
This utility is present in basically all the recent Microsoft OS including Windows 8, 8.1, 10, and 11.
Regarding the Windows Server OS, the tool is present in Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019, and 2022.
Steps to collect the Windows System Information:
- Open the Windows Search bar
- Type "msinfo32" to locate the System Information tool
- Right-click on "System Information" in the search results and choose "Run as administrator". By running Msinfo32 as an administrator, a more complete report is obtained as access to detailed system information is available.
- Once the tool is open, navigate to the "File" option at the top-left corner and select the "Save" option
- In the File Explorer window that appears, provide a name for the report and choose the destination path for the exported file
- After setting the parameters, click on "Save" to initiate the report generation. This process may take a few minutes to complete
- Send the resulting file to the UiPath Product Support Team.
