Filtering in Excel

This might be a very basic questions but can’t seem to make it work. When working on an excel file through studiox I am trying to filter a column with a list of alphanumeric items. I basically want to keep anything that doesn’t contain a F unless it is a specific instance of say “h123 f28” or “f 1234”, so then I would need everything that doesn’t contain a F but also those 2 exceptions. So far on the advanced filter I’ve set it as - “Contains- h123 f28 Or f1234” or “Does not contain- f”. This seems to take out everything that is not f but doesn’t retain the two I want. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi there Mihir!

I was able to accomplish what you are trying to accomplish, but I had to add three columns.

  1. Excluded
(yes if h123f28 or f1234; no if not)
  2. Contains F
(yes if contains f and no if not)
  3. Keep
(yes if value in Excluded = value in Contains F; no if not equal)

Then you can filter on Keep column = yes.
