Chrome crash when using Open Browser Activity

Hi all.

Since last week, my automations that use the Open Browser Activity make Chrome brower crash when clicking or setting text on some part inside the rendered website. The browser closes automatically and generates a dump file in chrome folders (no useful information, only task list)

I’ve uninstalled/reinstalled the chrome extension but still happening. Using Studio 2021.10.4. Chrome 97.0.4692.99. Firefox works perfectly.

Maybe some Windows or Chrome update has changed functionality?

Has anybody detected same behaviour? Crashes on Google chrome.

Did you face this issue manually while browsing with the chrome. And also try with the new activity Use application/browser and let us know. This activity available under modern design or if you are using classic design you could access this activity with the enabling modern activities filter. thanks

Manually doesn’t happen. Only when launched from Studio.

Can you check using by Modern Activities As @kirankumar.mahanthi1 suggested use Application / Browser activity instead of Open Browser Activity

I’ve tried with Application/Browser activity, from Modern Activities, and same behaviour and same crash. It’s really strange.

I really think that all is about some software installed on my work laptop from my IT department. I’ll open issue with them.

When there’s an already open chrome browser and UiPATH opens another browser, there’s no problem.

Even I have started facing this weird issue since last week where the Chrome window is crashing once the bot is trying to click or type something.

For one of the processes, once I changed all the Type Into/Click activities to Simulate Type/ Simulate Click, the process ran fine without many issues. But before this issue started, the bot ran fine without even setting the properties to be Simulate type. (Not sure what changed in a week time)

But for the other process which is using the same web URL, even after updating the click & type properties to simulate, the chrome window is crashing.

I am using 2021.4.4 edition of UiPath & Version 98.0.4758.81 (Official Build) (64-bit) of Google Chrome.

I would really appreciate it if someone can help resolve this issue. Thanks!

What a strange issue. I’ve reinstalled everything: Chrome, UiPath, Uipath Extension. And still happening.

Still looking for the problem…

Issue resolved. It wasn’t an UiPATH issue or the Extension. It was the Chrome version, that was automatically updated to version 97.

Unistalled and installed version 90. All Ok now. Automatic updates disabled
