Can we queue processes?

Hi All,

Can we queue processes?

Imagine we have 5 processes and i would like to add all 5 processes in queue which will run one after the other once the first one is complete.

Is this possible?

Are you talking about the queue in Orchestrator?
What i wanted to do is to add Process to queue.

Imagine i have 5 process in my orchestrator:

  1. Run Extract For Company A
  2. Run Extract For Company B
  3. Run Extract For Company C
  4. Run Load for Company A
  5. Run Load for Company B

Company A will have access to Process 1, 4
Company B will have access to Process 2 ,5
Company C will have access to Process 3

Companies can run queue processes between 8AM to 5PM:

When company A runs process 1, i would like to add that to the queue and not run immediately. Similarly for Company B and C.

So at the end in the queue there will be

  1. Run Extract For Company A
  2. Run Extract For Company B
  3. Run Extract For Company C

And then after 5 PM i would like to start processing the queue.

Is this possible?

You can utilize the Orchestrator Queues for that. The standard Orchestrator Queues best practice is to have 2 different processes for each process:

  1. Dispatcher: adding tasks to the queue
  2. Performer: running the task inside the queue

In your case, it’s possible to have all the companies do their dispatcher during 8AM - 5PM then after 5PM you can run the performer. Both of these can also be scheduled using the Orchestrator Scheduler. You can find out more about scheduling here.
