Can I automate mainframe application without using terminal session and does it feasible?

Hi Team,

I have automated mainframe application using Hotkey and Copy selected text activity, wherein it is working fine.

Still,i wanted to confirm whether it is feasible to use or its mandate to use terminal session only, as with terminal session i am facing issue on dis-connectivity frequently

Please confirm

I am working on SIBS application which is basically a desktop application installed on machine, not connecting through RDP

Welcome back to uipath community
usually when using terminal activities it gets disconnected once the process is over
that could be the reason why it is getting disconnected
If we are able to handle the current process with normal send hot key or copy to clipboard activity then its fine buddy…its more reliable
but when getting to higher level like DATA EXTRACTION from the terminal and then processing them, or wait for certain text or fields to appear as triggers…we might need to use TERMINAL ACTIVITIES

Even Data extraction and wait for certain text is working on my case, i do not find any difficulties. My question is whether is good to go or its necessary to use terminal activities only.

I ran the process around 30-40 times, which includes the data extraction and generating data table from the extracted text which is working fine

ofcourse you can buddy
there is no wrong in thinking out of box…if that works fine we are good…
I would like to suggest to use Terminal activities when the process is getting complex with the data from the terminal…

@sangeetha I see that you have automated SIBS without terminal activities session. Can you brief me on the functions used to type into SIBS and retrive data.

type into and set data doesn’t seem to work as desired.
