Assign Action Task to Business Group (DL) Along with Individual Users

Hello UiPath Team,

I would like to suggest an enhancement for the UiPath Action Center. Currently, action tasks can only be assigned to individual users. However, it would be incredibly beneficial to have the ability to assign these tasks to a business group or distribution list (DL) as well.

Use Case:

In many enterprise environments, decisions and actions are often managed by a team rather than an individual. By allowing tasks to be assigned to a DL, we can ensure that anyone in the group can take ownership of the task, thereby improving the efficiency and responsiveness of the workflow. This would also reduce bottlenecks when an individual user is unavailable.

Proposed Solution:

  1. Add a feature: Allow assignment of action tasks to a business group or DL in addition to individual users.
  2. Configuration Options: Enable administrators to configure DLs within the Action Center settings or through Orchestrator.
  3. Task Visibility: Ensure that all members of the assigned DL can view and claim the task.
  4. Notification: Send notifications to all members of the DL when a task is assigned to the group.
  5. Task Ownership: Once a task is claimed by an individual within the DL, other members should be notified to avoid duplicate efforts.

Benefits:

  1. Increased flexibility in task management.
  2. Improved team collaboration and task ownership.
  3. Reduced task delays due to individual availability issues.

Hello,

I discussed this with some of the action center team earlier this year at the EMEA MVP summit and they confirmed assigning tasks to a group is in the pipeline.

In a shorter term, I think they already finished work on allowing you to set a deadline for an action task, with it automatically going to another person should it not be done in the deadline. This won’t fully solve the issue but might help with some of them.

yes, Group assignments are on the roadmap. the task ownership might look slightly different from what you propose.

I connected with @manaspandey at the UiPath MVP Summit and explained the feature to him. He said he would inform their product team and work on it.
