Summary (abstract)
Individuals seeking to book a diagnostic test must manually perform multiple steps across various platforms. They typically begin by identifying the correct test using general keywords (e.g., “thyroid test”), then manually search for diagnostic centers that offer it, check availability based on their location and preferred date, compare costs, and assess slot availability. This requires switching between websites, making phone calls, and interpreting test names and prices that often vary across providers. While some platforms offer basic booking features, they lack intelligent automation that can handle ambiguity in input, aggregate data from multiple providers, and present the best option in a user-centric way.
Detailed problem statement
Challenges in the Current System
- Current system setup cannot interpret loosely defined or non-standard keywords to map them to specific diagnostic tests.
- There’s no logic that autonomously searches multiple providers, interprets offerings, and unifies the data for easy comparison.
- Manual user input is required at every step — from search to comparison to booking — with little automation or guided decision-making.
- Users must evaluate options manually; there is no automation to analyze and highlight the best choice based on cost, proximity, and availability.
Detailed solution
Our proposed solution—driven by UiPath agentic automation—has the potential to redefine the diagnostic test booking experience by replacing a manual, fragmented process with an intelligent, autonomous system. The impact spans across efficiency, accessibility, decision-making, and user empowerment.
- Streamlined User Experience: By accepting simple, non-technical keywords and automatically mapping them to exact test names, the solution eliminates confusion for users unfamiliar with medical terminology. This lowers the entry barrier for health-related services and makes the process more inclusive.
- Location-Aware and Time-Sensitive Matching: The agent uses location and preferred test date to retrieve only relevant, actionable options, ensuring results are contextual and timely. This personalization dramatically improves the relevance and quality of options presented to the user.
- Aggregated View of Diagnostic Centers: Through real-time data extraction from multiple diagnostic platforms, users receive a centralized, standardized view of information such as test names and descriptions, cost, slot availability, home sample pickup or center-based options etc. This consolidation saves hours of manual effort and reduces the chance of human error in decision-making.
- Intelligent Comparison and Recommendation: The agent builds a side-by-side comparison of available options and automatically highlights the best match based on parameters like cost, availability, proximity, and convenience. This removes guesswork and enables data-backed, confident decisions.
