Can you send the escalation to an external system ex. Nintex Workflow and capture the decision from that external system to resume processing with agent. Sample scenarios include agent to process vacation request but needs to escalate to nintex workflow. After approval, the agent could update the vacation bank by capturing the approval action in nintex. in case of rejection, it can send a properly toned email.
Not possible at the moment. We got apps as the only option for now.

may be you cannot add it as an escalation
but if you want to send it out you can create a agentic process or maestro witha gent and next step as the api workflow to send data to nintex and then once retreived the data can be given back to agent to process further
