19.8 Studio - Validate Ribbon command throws error (Excel)

When I open a blank project and just drag in an excel application scope (and fill a dummy file name), the “Validate” option throws me an error. And with that I can’t publish either…
Found this of course in a more complex project but nailed it down to the excel app scope. I have tried with different versions of Excel app scope activities (including alfa) - but it stays the same.
Any hints?
