Two processes can run on the same machine

why would two process that can run on the same machine at the same time, one is running and the other is not? what could have possibly happened?

Do you mean with same username?

Is one of it a background process?

If not then it would not run two foregrounds at a time with same user …

so you are saying that i can run multiple processes on the same machine at the same time as long as all the processes are background processes?

Not all…one can be foreground then a background process can be run parallely on same
