Orchestrator Docs Revamp

Orchestrator Docs Revamp

Hello folks. As you probably know, the Orchestrator UI has undergone significant changes in the last couple of months. The new look has already reached Automation Cloud Orchestrator services and will be delivered with the 20.10 on-premises release.

To align with the changes, we revamped the Orchestrator guide as well.

See below a summary of the changes

Made it Contextual

Because Orchestrator entities are highly contextual, in that some are only relevant at the tenant level and some at the folder level, we tried to illustrate this in both the UI and documentation.

:globe_with_meridians: Tenant Context

We listed all entities under the TENANT CONTEXT chapter, whereas in the previous structure each such entity had its own chapter.

This means that certain articles are now discoverable by expanding the corresponding entry.

:file_folder: Folder Context

Entities relevant to modern folders/personal workspaces have their own chapter, just as they did before.

You can identify folder-specific entities by the :file_folder: icon

Classic Robots

Created a chapter dedicated to robots in classic folders and removed all classic model-related content from the other sections. We did this to contain the information related to the classic model in one place and tidy up the rest of the docs.

Cleaned it up

We removed a couple of Field Description articles (such as Users FD, Folders FD, Roles FD) we’re pretty sure didn’t bring any value and were difficult to maintain.

:star: Drop us a line if you think those were useful

Before/After

To help you get a better overview of the changes, take a look at both the old and new documentation looks, and let us know if we’re on the right track.

New - 2022

(Old - https://docs.uipath.com/orchestrator/v1/docs)

:warning: The old (v1) version is fictive and will be removed in a couple of weeks. It’s a temporary space to help people transition to the new doc shape, and get a sense of what changed.
