How to update lookup filed in SharePoint

Hi Team,

I need to update lookup value in sharepoint except lookup i can able to update but i couldn’t able to update lookup field.

I am using Sharepoint application scope in Update list item

If i give XXX in i want update in expected place but lookup value only shows to invalid data error

Error below,
"Update list item: Invalid data has been used to update the list item. The field you are trying update may be read only "

Please help me anyone for this.
