Following the installation of Microsoft Security Update KB5005031, the "Invoke Method" now fails. What is the resolution?

Issue Description: Following the installation of Microsoft Security Update KB5005031, the "Invoke Method" now fails.

This issue was observed on a Windows 10 v1909 (10.0.18363 N/A Build 18363) for another customer.

That machine has “News and interests“ feed enabled, and this was causing BringToForeground to fail.

Resolution: The issue stops after the “News and interests“ feed is disabled.

This can be solved from the following Group Policy,

  • Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > News and interests > Enable news and interests on the taskbar (must be set to Disabled) .
