Esc and F2 keys not working to pause or delay the recording once I am connected to Orchestrator

You said in an earlier post that you upgraded to the latest Activities. What is the exact Activities version that you are using.
Also, you mentioned that you connect to the Orchestrator. How exactly are you connecting to Orchestrator, are you hosting it locally?

Activities version is the latest one which we get for the community edition from cloud platform.
I am connecting to the Orchestrator using ‘UiPath Assistant’. It’s the usual Community orchestrator https://platform.uipath.com/
I am not hosting it locally.

There are some known issues with the hotkeys during selection. For example, if Windows Task Manager is opened and the window is active, the hotkeys will not work during selection.
Can you send me a screenshot of your desktop when you are reproducing the problem?

I understand that as soon as you start UiPath Assistant, the hotkeys don’t work any more. What about if you close the Assistant app (please check in the system tray if the app is closed and not just minimized)?

If the hotkeys still don’t work, go to the Windows Services console snap-in and and close UiRobotSvc. Do the hotkeys work?

sure will share the screen shot. But the issue is encountered continuously, once I connect to orchestrator once after resetting the Windows 10 OS. As I mentioned earlier,
I tried to and was successful to fix it once by resetting the Windows 10. It worked fine until I connected Studio to Orchestrator and got my Studio version upgraded automatically.

Once this was done the issue continues to persist, irrespective of UiPath Assistant open or close.

Same functionality works perfectly for the same version of Studio for my older Lenevo laptop. It has got nothing to do with any other window open or closed.

Please follow these steps:

Strange thing happens. When I down load both the packages you mentioned, ‘Click’ And ‘Type Into’ activities go missing from activities panel.

Though the packages are installed properly, I see some errors in the Output panel of the Studio.

Output Panel text file. output.txt (38.5 KB)
Currently I am not able to see click activity in the panel when these packages are installed.
Mostly, ‘UiPath.UIAutomation.Activities.20.10.7515.19309’ is the culprit. Because Click activity appears with Checking compatibility for it’s previous version.

Please download and install this UiPath Platform package.

Here you go, the suggested package installed as below -

And these are the traces.LAPTOP-9TUE1BSH_4.txt (1.9 MB)

I meant to ADD the platform package to the already loaded UiAutomation Activities 20.10.[…] and UiPath 20.8.[…]. So please repeat the test with:

  • UiAutomation Activities 20.10.[…]
  • UiPath 20.8.[…]
  • UiPath Platform 20.8.[…]

and send me the traces.

LAPTOP-9TUE1BSH_5.txt (3.0 MB)
ok. I hope now we have all of the required ones.

We have determined the direct cause of the problem, but there is not much information about it on the Microsoft documentation website.
Some possible reasons are:

  • You are starting the selection from a non-elevated app (running in UAC Medium Integrity Level) and there is a High Integrity application visible on the screen - I guess we can rule that out, given he history of this issue.
  • The system is busy or running slowly for some reason, at the time of the selection. Do you have the HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Control Panel \ Desktop \ LowLevelHooksTimeout value set in the registry?
  • Something else is preventing us from monitoring the hotkeys during selection. I’m looking into this issue, but things are pretty shady.

Thanks a lot for your analysis and your to resolve this issue.

As I suspected earlier, it has got some thing to do with OS and Studio.

Please keep me posted if you find a solution and also feel free to ask me to share information if needed.

Thanks again.
