Document Understanding - Modern projects

Hi everyone,

I’m wondering what modifications does a developer need to do in order to use the document understanding framework template with a modern document understanding project.

Modern projects use a different set of activities than the classic experience
With that in mind, I wonder if we’re supposed to substitute the “old” activities used to classify and extract data from the documents with the new ones?

Are the activities used for classic projects compatible with the activities used in modern projects?

Do modern projects offer activities like the “machine learning classifier trainer” where the model can train itself?

you can but thats a lot of work…not only activities but the variables types etc change a little…A new template is yet to be released…but given the less number of activities we just need extract document data as such

no classic and modern use completely different set of activities

no modern supports active learning but not retraining as of now

cheers

Yes, in modern Document Understanding projects, you’ll need to replace classic activities with their modern equivalents, as they are not directly compatible. Modern projects do offer AI-based classifiers and extractors, but some features like the “Machine Learning Classifier Trainer” may work differently. It’s best to check UiPath’s documentation for specific activity mappings and training options.

Thank you for your feedback.

Do you know what its causing the classify document activity to look like this?

I’m running studio version 2022.4.9
These new activities look different in the community version, so I’m thinking that we could some problem with the dependencies version or studio itself

@Rui_Leite

Try upgrading the system activities package and check…if that does not change it on studio version

Mostly it should be studio version also increasing system packages more than the studio version is not always recommended

cheers
