DNS Entries for UiPath HAA Active - Active Installation

Creation Procedure of DNS Entries for UiPath HAA Active Active Installation .

The below content provides a step-by-step guide to create DNS entries and Delegation for the Linux servers used in the Installation of HAA (High Availability Add-on) in an Active-Active DR deployment model for the UiPath Platform. This is a pre-requisite to be performed before the HAA software is installed on the Linux servers.

  1. Get the IP addresses of the 6 Linux servers where HAA is to be installed (3 in the Primary Datacenter/Site and 3 in the DR/Secondary Datacenter/Site)

  1. In the DNS Manager, create 6 new DNS entries. 1 entry for each server.

Note: If DNS entries are already created for the above 6 servers, there is no need to create the DNS entries again. Skip steps 2.1 to 2.4

2.1. Start with the 3 servers in the Primary Datacenter ; Right click on the domain name and add “New Host”

2.2. For the first server (HAA-infra1-1 in this example) - Provide the name, IP Address and click on Add Host

2.3. For the first server (HAA-infra1-2 in this example) - Provide the name, IP Address and click on Add Host

2.4. For the first server (HAA-infra1-3 in this example) - Provide the name, IP Address and click on Add Host

  1. Right-click on the domain name and create a ‘New Delegation’

3.1. Click on Next

3.2. Provide the delegation a name and click on ‘Next’

3.3. Click on ‘Add’

3.4. Add the first server from the Primary Datacenter/Site 1 - HAA-infra1-1 in this example

3.5. Click Resolve. Ignore the error if it doesn’t validate.

3.6. Click OK

3.7. Click ‘Add’

3.8. Add the second server from the Primary Datacenter/Site 1 - HAA-infra1-2 in this example

3.9. Click Resolve

3.10. Click Ok

3.11. Click ‘Add’

3.12. Add the third server from the Primary Datacenter/Site 1 - HAA-infra1-3 in this example

3.13. Click Resolve

3.14. Click OK

3.15. The 3 servers on the Wizard can be seen. Click ‘Next’

3.16. Click ‘Finish’

  1. It is possible to see the new delegation created with the 3 servers added to it

  1. Now add the DNS entries for the 3 servers in the Secondary/DR Datacenter

Note: If DNS entries are already created for all 6 servers, there is no need to create the DNS entries again. Skip steps 5.1 to 5.4

5.1. Right-click on the domain name and add “New Host”

5.2. For the first server in the Secondary/DR Datacenter (HAA-infra2-1 in this example) - Provide the name, IP Address and click on Add Host

5.3. For the second server in the Secondary/DR Datacenter (HAA-infra2-2 in this example) - Provide the name, IP Address and click on Add Host

5.4. For the third server in the Secondary/DR Datacenter (HAA-infra2-3 in this example) - Provide the name, IP Address and click on Add Host

6. Repeat Step 3 for the 3 servers in the Secondary/DR Datacenter. Right-click on the domain name and create a ‘New Delegation’

6.1. Provide the delegation a name and click on ‘Next’

6.2. Click ‘Add’

6.3. Add the first server from the Secondary/DR Datacenter/Site 1 - HAA-infra2-1 in this example. Click Resolve. Ignore any validation errors. Click Ok

6.4. Click ’Add’

6.5. Add the second server from the Secondary/DR Datacenter/Site 1 - HAA-infra2-2 in this example. Click Resolve. Ignore any validation errors. Click Ok

6.6. Click ‘Add’

6.7. Add the third server from the Secondary/DR Datacenter/Site 1 - HAA-infra2-3 in this example. Click Resolve. Ignore any validation errors. Click Ok

6.8. Verify all the 3 servers in the delegation Wizard and Click ‘Next’

6.9. The new delegation created with the 3 servers added to it can be seen

The DNS setup for the UiPath Active -Active HAA installation is now complete
