Display a message box *not* in the centre of the screen?

Is it possible to a display a message box elsewhere on the screen, instead of directly in the centre?

I know that callouts can be targeted with selectors, and one of our engineers has encountered a situation where it would be preferable to display a message box or input dialog below a web element, rather than on top of it. Can message boxes be targeted like callouts can?
