When I try to add invoke workflow, I get the activity shown in the screenshot above. There is no way to expand the activity and the arguments section of the properties tab is not working either.
Can anyone suggest possible steps?

If this issue still exists - I solved it by rolling back the Uipath System Activities from 20.10.1 to 20.8.0.
Instead of using “Invoke Workflow File” Activity, try to drag and drop the .xmal file which you want to invoke.
