What is thin client automation,thick client automation, surface automation in uipath

  1. Thin client automation - This refers to the automation where the process involves automating the tasks done on a browser. e.g. opening a browser, navigating to an URL, doing some activities on the website (like extracting data) etc.
  2. Thick client automation - This refers to automating tasks done on a desktop application (for example, SAP GUI).
  3. Surface automation - This refers to automation of tasks using image recognition, OCR (for example, automating applications hosted on Citrix environment).

Thin client - Automation of an application(windows,web,etc) on server or remote desktop is thin client automation.

Thick client - Automation of any application , if the application is on local system, is thick client automation.

FYI - Automation hub Assessments - Applications section does not really define these explicitly. Currently this option is disabled. It would be helpful to have at least a tooltip or description to define these differences.

The terminology is not intuitive to most business users.
